I work at the intersection between the land and the sea and am fascinated by how coastal communities deal with change. My primary research interests span social resilience theory. My PhD explores the dynamics of change in fishing villages in Mozambique through the concepts of vulnerability, adaptive capacity and resilience. I am particularly interested in how communities perceive livelihood risks, build capacity to adapt to change and strengthen resilience.
I have spent the last eight years working as a researcher and development worker in rural communities from Latin America to sub-Saharan Africa. Through my research, I aim to make space for local and marginalized voices to contribute to the discussion around marine-based livelihoods in order to build resilient systems that foster the capacity for renewal and innovation in the face of change.
